The Star and Garter / Re: A65 valuation

with the modern market trend £4k seems about right.. Many ask more but never sell. Alas the posterior has fallen out of the classic bike market...   Griff

When you apply to register a bike it advises you it may have to be inspected. So yours gets selected. They are not doubting you it's just to try to keep the idiots and fiddlers out of the market. As long as the correct procedure is followed it's an easy job.. Patience is a virtue and some things take a while while the next chap sails through.. With insurance I've found a phone call to a reputable classic bike insurer saves many an hour and frustration... Griff

Just a thought and are any of our members over for the centenary celebrations of the MGP ?  If so lets have a meet-up and a ride with a pie and pint to round it off.... I'm game to lead a route round some lanes that are hardly used....

Twins / Re: Change front wheel ?

It will fit under the mudguard OK though not too much room for the dirt to build up. The braake plate slides into the forks OK as they are the same as the A65. No worries about the setting as it worked perfectly on my A65 and the cable off an a65 will do fine . It's the same  as Triumph as well

Twins / Change front wheel ?
« on: 04 July, 2023, 12:50:14 »
By taking the 18" front wheel out of my A50 and replacing it with an 8" TLS 19" rim , will it alter the handling of the bike ? Yes the stopping will be far better but wil the bike have safe handling...........The wheel is out of an A65 .. Could even sell the bub and rin as this one was found in the shed...

I fully understand Richard. I had a BMW K75S for 22 years and no problems but since returning to the UK and riding trials again the natural instinct is left foot brake. I had a GSX R last year for 3 months but it was not instinct to use the right foot for a rear brake. Only a split second but enough for me to think that could be the difference between stopping still sitting or having a low flying lesson. At a trial , riding a bike I caused mayhem going down a hill by just for a second pressing the wrong pedal shot passed the observer closely and dispersed the crowd. Yes a laugh but on a road ? ? ?   Better safe than sorry for me...

it does help with registration getting an M-o-T as it put the bike on the system.. A certificate from hte VMCC is mighty expensive and the TOC is the best option. Get a NOVA certificate before you send your forms into the DVLA  . Costs nowt and maynot be needed. Saves time with the DVLA as they lose another loophole.  Yes many do  not bother and no problem but as you are not sure of the history of the bike  it saves any agro.. Just agree with the DVLA even if they ask stupid questions that you think are daft.. they hold the strings so just dance and it will cut the time down off the road.. You can insure the bike on the frame number.. PM me if you need any help...

I can assure oyu when you ge tto 3 score and nearly twenty it is a big problem  .. Tried riding a trials bike with gears and brakes on wrong side and nearly took some spectators out... Sixtytwo years riding with proper gears and back brake is a long time to think you'll change in a moment..  I promise you it does not happen... Sadly...

Yes I've done the ride and very tempted to do the deal. Before parting with the readies I want the bike to have proper gears and definatly a left foot brake.. All my bikes, specially the competition ones are traditionl so the swap is essential for a 'war baby'...  The gears could stay but the back brake ? ? ?

just for reference to the 'Admiral' being a dip stick.... He spent the Thursday evening of the NEC show crawling round the stand floor sniffing the R40 my C15  trials bike had generously left as a calling card... I do believe he was selling the paper tissues (used to mop up) as R40 scented pieces... Ah well ! !
