Of course another option is to to make a nice tidy fitted cover for the front number plate which could be removed at shows etc.  I made such a canvas cover for the AFS Convoy ID Plate on the front mudguard of my Auxiliary Fire Service Matchless a few years ago, a couple of pop studs held it in place.

May I suggest you contact Paragon Paints, I have purchased paint from them for my AFS Matchless (Deep Bronze Green Gloss) and my RAF WD B40 (RAF Blue/Grey Gloss).  Their paint can be applied by spraying, hand roller or brush, it has great 'Flow Out' qualities leaving no brush marks when brushed on, but you must use a very good quality brush.  Most colours are available in Matt, Satin or Gloss, depending which colour you choose.  Look under Military Colours on their Menu.

Brand new kickstart rubber fitted.... the final touches to a rebuild.......half a dozen kicks later & the **%%ing end shears off it! What's that all about????!!!!

Another example of a host of rubbish parts for classic motorcycles on the market recently I'd say, was it bought from an established supplier or one of the new 'Boy in his Bedroom' classic parts suppliers?

As I understand it, from conversations with the people at Armours recently, the firm changed hands about a year ago.  The new owners and staff are working to get up to speed with the range and certain items are not available at the moment i.e. WD B40 exhaust pipes, I bought the last one they had on the shelf.

Just finished reading "Where BSAs Dare" myself, a truly inspiring story.  Highly recommended for anyone who likes BSAs.

Well this is interesting, I have received conflicting opinions from two serving police traffic officers.  One says, you can put anything you like on the front number plate of an Historic Taxation Class motorcycle as a front number plate is not a requirement by law.  The other says legally both plates have to match if you decide to put both number plates on the motorcycle.

Interestingly, neither can actually quote the regulation that states either case?

If DVLA have the power to impose a 1000 fine for displaying an illegal front number plate Historic Taxation Class motorcycle, there should be a regulation stating this.  As yet I cannot find one.

I've passed this question to a police traffic officer mate of mine, I'm awaiting the reply...

Yes interesting question.  I am considering displaying the RAF registration number of my RAF WD B40 on my front number plate, is it would have been when in service.  Technically not a false number but equally not a British registration number.  This one could be argued either way.

Some comment from a serving police officer would be welcome, if there is one on the forum, along with the relevant Number Plate Construction and Use regulations, if there is one.

Hi,

I have heard of a number of people who have had similar problems with this supplier, Barge Pole and Touch spring to mind.

I have also had a similar problem to yours with a couple of other "On-Line" so-called classic bike spares suppliers, who all seem to be operating out of their bedrooms and holds very little stock, only ordering stuff in from elsewhere when someone buys something.

I now stick to the reputable long established suppliers.

Singles / WD B40 Ignition Switch Label
« on: 10 April, 2017, 16:09:02 »
This is the plastic Label (for want of a better word) that goes under the Ignition Switch Knob on a WD B40.

Does anyone know the part number or if it was used on any other BSA model please?

The Star and Garter / Unfortunate Error?
« on: 31 March, 2017, 20:56:48 »
Admin take note

Unless I'm missing something...

Is the inclusion of the word 'Child' in the 'For Sale/Wanted' section heading an unfortunate error?

Of course this question of "Narrow tyre on front - Wide tyre on rear" doesn't add up if you look at a Sunbeam S7...   ;)
