Twins / Re: lowering compression with an extra gasket
« on: 19 February, 2024, 09:06:15 »
Hi,

After a search only the British Cycle Supply Company (Canada) offer a thicker gasket at 0.080.  Not cheap especially with postage added.

Dave.
If I can find an old gasket somewhere I'll check on how much it would cost to make a batch of ten or so at whatever thickness you want, it's just the initial cost of doing a cad drawing etc, lett me know the thickness you want and I'll do a check. The firm I use only do gaskets for me, once the cad is done, they are exclusive to me, so I could actually have some made thinner after yours have been done.

The Star and Garter / Re: Update on the Open Day event
« on: 07 February, 2024, 09:41:26 »
Hello All
Just wondering how many committee members and ordinary members actually read the various announceements  and notices that are posted on here and the events page, because from what I can gather I don't think there is many.
I am busting a gut trying to get the open day back on track, involving the Linc's branch who are very willing to assist and doing their best to organise the ride out on Saturday and committee members saying they know nothing about it, or that this should be passed by the committee before I do anything. Not saying all of the committee, as I have been negotiating with the club secretary and treasurer over this, but why is it that certain members want to put stumbling blocks in front of me, organising this all the while.
So please get a life and goi with the flow.

Kind regards TTJohn

We weren;t kicked out of Mkt Harborough, the only reason we could not go back there was due to a great deal of improvements to the lighting, drainage of the pitches, and other ongoing work to improve the site. Nothing to do with the lack of support of the catering staff, or lack of use at the bar, in fact Garry complimented us for the support we provided for the club.
Just thoought I would clarify that point.
Kind regards John.

Bantam / Re: Used front number plate mount wanted
« on: 01 February, 2024, 10:21:27 »
Not quite sure what you want, do you want the part that holds the number plate at the front? its a threaded piece with a slot in it  which secures the plate and fits into the mudguard.

Has anyone got a spare front silencer box for a Sunbeam 250cc twin please?

There are gates which in normal circustance would be locked, although I really don't think that there will be any need to have them locked but I feel sure that we can arrange this nearer the date, there is a travellers camp close by but have never been any problem apparently.

The Star and Garter / Update on the Open Day event
« on: 26 January, 2024, 11:01:20 »
I hae been along to the S Linc's meeting at quite a nice venue and met up with the members who are very keen on the event being in their area and have agreed to try out and possible venues for the ride out on the Saturday of the Open Day weekend. I got a good positive vibes from these lads, with some good ideas  on where to visit, to make it interesting.
I also visited the Rugby club, who seemed very keen on helping us out with various things. I was shown around the club house, which is a new build, I met with the young lady Peppa, that does the catering, who assures me she is capable of catering for at least 120 people, Peter, who I have been dealing with on the rugby club side took me and shown me thge changing rooms and showers etc, there is seperate shower rooms with toilets, Ladies and mens. I looked outside to see where we might have the camping area and although it's rather exposed to the ellements, (very windy and cold on the day I visited) I think at the end of  May it should be okay. There is a serices area close by with a Marston pub that serves meals also, should anyone require something  different.
I have asked the S Linc's branch to have a look at the venue to give their opinions and let me know what they think.
Subject to booking everything seems to be falling in place.

If you look in Rupert Ratio book it will tell you. depending on the wiring colours usually a lot of people like to upgrade their system to have twelve volt, this is possible by joined two wires together, if you still want six volt you use all three wires, on later stators you onluy get two wires.

Better to have memories than regrets.

A club member once said it is no good sitting in a corner of your care home wishing you had because it is too effin late.

I know it has to end someday but please Lord not too soon, that was my philosophy.
Though that day has come, there are no regrets just wonderful memories.

Yes, Your quite correct Brian at least you did have a good run and hopefully you still manage to get to local events even if you do have tto revert to using the car. I have booked my space in Norway as of yesterday. We have some fond memories of when we both traveled to Gernany and Maastricht.
Unfortunately not all membeers are remembered, we have a BSA member who has had to give up, so sold all his bikes, with my help and no one bothers to visit him eccept me, I make a point of keeping in touch and go round his house to have a chat for an hour or so, at least once a week. He was ninety on Christmas day and had a good biking life but I try to keep him up to date with various events and whats going on, hopefully my visits keep him going, otherwise he would just sit and vegitate.

The Star and Garter / Address of the Open day rugby club
« on: 08 January, 2024, 11:43:08 »
There seemed to be a bit of confusion over the rugby club address, seeiing as there was two clubs listed. Well here it is from the club secretary:

We fully vacated our old ground May 2023 as we finally completed Club's relocation to Centenary Park, Drain Bank North, Cowbit, Spalding, PE12 6AF, which we purchased September 2014, The majority of the Club activities have been based at Centenary Park from September 2018.

Kind regards John
