Thanks yes, a block of wood might have to be the low tech solution that I need. Hopefully it will fit under the side cover, I just need to find the correct side cover with a cut out for the air pipe. Every solution seems to create a new problem! I supposedly have a supplier that has a correct side cover but I'm waiting for him to unearth it. He did come up with a centre panel so fingers crossed on the side cover.

Thanks for the replies. The frame does have a mount for a side stand so I'm assuming the bike had one but that may not be the case. The parts book that covers the C15S start at 1960 models and lists the 404737 part number, I would think that 59 models would be the same but when I tried a 10.5" stand the bike lent too far over. I have standard repro girling shocks on the back and standard forks, wheels + tyres.
I would think the stand needs to be a couple of inches longer or maybe the bike was not fitted with a stand when new and the mount is just the standard C15 angle which is causing the problem with the added height of the bike. If the angle of the mount was changed to be more vertical I think a 10.5" stand would be ok but I don't really want the frame altered.

Thanks for the info, its a new old stock cable and a reasonable lever but I will get some more oil down the cable to be safe. I think I had the springs a bit tight so have backed them off. I also remembered I had some B25 clutch bits which has given me a couple of better metal plates (some marking on the original C15 ones). In amongst the B25 bits were some drilled screws (they used to belong to a grass tracker bike), is wiring the screws overkill on a C15?
Also mixed in with the B25 clutch bits were some longer springs and one of the deeper cups.

Please can someone confirm the route of the clutch cable. I have routed mine under the tank and then down behind the centre panel following the main down tube. It then turns 90 degrees to go through the back of the casing onto the clutch arm/lever. It seems ok but a there is a bit of resistance at the 90 degree bend. Have I followed the correct route?
On another note I read that there are two sizes of clutch spring cups with corresponding springs, anyone know more about this subject. The clutch is very hard to operate, something doesn't feel right.
