Got a new oil seal for the Magdyno shaft in the timing case and it is loose in the holder, Has any one had this if so is there a remedy, 1950 B31

Singles / 1950 B31 gearbox

On my 1950 B31 gearbox between the main shaft ball race (clutch end) and the main shaft sleeve gear there is a oil retaining washer 24-4225 which is set over on the last part of the outer circumference. Can anyone tell which way round it goes.

More help for my 1950 B31 please.
In one end of the big end crankpin is a grub screw, what does it do and does it need to come out and be cleaned behind.
On the drive side crank shaft is a ball race, spring ring, distance collar, roller race and oil flinger BSA list a engine shaft shim 66-661. Were does this go there wasn't one on there when I stripped it.

More help needed with my 1950 b31 renovation.
I have split the crank case, the big end seems ok but I intend to change the main bearings. There is a ball race and a lipped roller race on the drive side and a lipped roller race on the timing gear side.
Should I replace the lipped races with the same or use plain ones.
Watís the advantages and disadvantages of using lipped ones.
Why were lipped one fitted in the first place.
What way round should the lip go.

Hi Guys
I need some advice about the petrol tank that come on my bike ,the frame is a 1949 plunger. Is it the right tank if it isnít what is the difference.  As I am trying to fit a solo saddle I thought I had better check that the tank is ok size wise and shape etc.

Hi Guys
I am rebuilding a 1950 plunger B31, and want to fit a solo saddle. I have brought a wasselll one from Dragonfly (large lycett type) but when you offer it up with the springs on it appears to be the right width but to long (about 14inches) to fit the cutaway in the tank properly. Has anyone got any pictures or measurements of the correct one or has anybody fitted an after market one

I have just brought a new spring for the main stand the dealer assured me it was the right one (it was different to the one I took off)

Can you tell me which way round it goes hopefully I have attached a picture.

Hi Guys
Can anyone give me some technical advice please? I have a 1950 B31 which I am trying to renovate. I brought a rear brake rod complete at the weekend but when I got home and checked it is was longer than the old which is 20 inches overall. Can anyone the correct length please.

Hi Guys
Can anyone give me some technical advice please? I have a 1950 B31 which I am trying to renovate and started to take the engine apart. Taking of the cylinder head there was a thick head gasket, I did not think there was one, can you tell me if they are the right parts. Iron head and cylinder casting No on head66-1157, casting No on cylinder 65-1703 or could be 66-1793 or the 66 could be 65. And worst news on the inside of the cylinder liner, timing side and 2 deep groves about the width of the gudgeon diameter I take these are not meant to be there. I f the liner is gone can theses still be got or repaired. I live in Dorset

Singles / 1949 b31 plunger frame info

Hi All
I have a 1949 b31 plunger frame bike I have stripped for renovation. On the front half of the main frame is the rear down tube at right angles to the main top cross bar. The front down tube also looks like in may be bent. Could anyone recommend a frame repairers, near to were I live which is Swanage in Dorset   

If anyone went to the classic bike show at the weekend. In the first hall on the left as you went in the gate, at the top end was a stand with bare metal chain cases, chain guards and a single saddle frame. I forgot to get some contact details, the organisers have told me the stand was let to a Derek Huyton but were not allowed to give me his details. I am interested in his stuff if anyone has any contact details.
