The Triumph OC used to make brass replicas. Otherwise try the Van Genechten family in Belgium. I think they trade under F and F motorcycles or something similar.

Hi Dave,

The serrated part is for a sidecar brake lock. It is a spring loaded device: pull in and lock manually, pull in and it unlocks automatically. It was used on all mid 30s BSA with the combination levers. It isn't particularly useful on a B18 unless you lean it against a wall. ::)

Kind regards,
Leon

all of the above, CEI 20TPI and BA. Typically BSW for threads in alloy, CEI 26 TPI as standard thread, BSF in cylinder, BA for electrical (switches on combination levers (5BA), magneto etc), CEI 20 TPI on footrest rods and bigger studs. :D

Old chrome can be polished with very fine wire wool. it does take the flakes off and brings back some shine (if there is any left) to the remaining chrome.

There is also a sort of lime green booklet from BMS covering BSA motorcycles from 1935 - 1940 including the WD M20. It turns up on Ebay regularly. I may have a spare copy but would have to look. The original version is red on white and was published by the MotorCycle or Motorcycling can't remember which one.

Hi Dave,

Yes I agree a 12 part brake rod doesn't sound very efficient but then again this was the De Luxe model ;D ;D. I have a B18 myself and it is a lovely bike though a bit tiny for my 6'5".

Kind regards,
Leon

Guido,

Your bike is a 1934 model. Is it a 350 or 500cc?

I have had reproduction battery carriers made for this model. You need a Lucas T battery for this carrier. There are copies available, where you can fit a small modern battery inside.

Kind regards,
Leon

The BSA OC have copies of the despatch records. The records also show special orders, like red paint. The BSA factory delivered what the customer ordered. It may be worthwhile to have a look to see whether it was ordered with red panels.

Hi Guido,

It would be helpful to know what year your Blue Star is. I have made reproductions of the later Blue Star type battery carriers.

Kind regards,
Leon

Dave,

It is a bayonet fitting it screws up and locks. That is to unlock the brake rod from the wheel so you can remove the wheel to fix a flat tyre.

Kind regards,
Leon
