Title: What do I have?
Post by: idahoguy on 09 December, 2017, 17:03:02
Hello Folks,

I picked up a basket case BSA single.    New to all this.

Frame number is CB34-5XX   Engine number is BB-34-A-6XX HHC  (Dashes are really dots, but I don't know how to make a dot)

Looking at the serial number page, I think I have a 1956 Competition Alloy frame (350cc) and a 1957 Competition Alloy engine  (500cc).  The previous owner says it was a 1957 Competition Alloy motorcycle and not pieced together.

What is correct? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Often called the "Clipper"

BB34A engines in CB34 frames.

First photo from 1957 catalogue.

Second photo is from Glass's motorcycle check book and shows start and finish frame numbers for the B34 competition model.

Last frame given CB34 634.

I will send you a PM, check under "My messages"

Someone asked for a picture.   I tried to load four but it was too large so ......... trying just one. even one picture exceeds limits. Sorry!
