Title: Petrol tank corrosion (ethanol)
Post by: scarle34 on 10 October, 2017, 19:06:57
Having only just got my 1961 C15 star starting and running well I now have a problem with paint flaking off the inside of the tank and interrupting fuel flow. How the paint got inside the tank is not known.

Can anyone suggest (or point me at) a procedure for cleaning the inside and the best method of protecting it from the ethanol?

Also does anyone know of a UK supplier of new / refurbished tanks for a 61 C15?

Thanks for any help.

i have heard a few talking about adding a good quantity of small nuts and bolts and giving a good shake! whether this works long term i dont know.

I tried reverse electrolysis on a rusty tank and had reasonable success but it was pretty bad to begin with.
