Title: A65 cylinder flange cracking?
Post by: JulianS on 07 October, 2017, 20:30:06
Found this USA service sheet from 1969.

Has anyone actually suffered or seen such damage, I certainly have not.

Yes. An A65 I bought many years ago had the barrel flange cracked. All the nuts seemed to be torqued up OK.

Hi Julian,
Interesting document. I haven't had an issue, I do regularly check fastenings throughout so I guess I wouldn't.

Best wishes...

I haven't seen any evidence of that on my 1968 A65, but that's maybe because it's done only 11k miles since new. The previous owner was a mechanic, so I'm assuming he tightened the head down to the correct torque.

Thanks for providing the sheet, as it shows the factory's specification!
