Title: B31 timing cover
Post by: griffo on 30 July, 2017, 20:41:23
 On my B31 I have a constant oil leak from the timing cover. Where the breather pipe leaves the cover is where the oil is coming from. Is this a breather valve or just a breather pipe?  Can't say I know too much about this type of engine...'L' plates on this job.... :-\  Griff

There should be a disc valve in the lump with the hex on the outside of the timing cover if your engine is post 1948.

This ebay item gives a view of the cover with breather assembly fitted;

And the photo is from service sheet 603 dealing with the breather.

Thanks Julian for that.. Suspected that the problem was in the breather area. Will strip it later and see what the part looks like.. Hopefully just gunge and muck keeping it open.      ::)   Griff
